Czarina works as both a Licensed Practical Nurse (since 2011) and a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (since 2016). She has always been passionate about nursing and mental health, as she was inspired by her mother – who is also a nurse. Over the years, she has met and worked with people from all walks of life – in homeless communities, hospitals, and Excel Society’s DAL-site (Grand Manor).
Czarina enjoy the dynamics of nursing and the growth she has experienced from patients and co-workers has been priceless. She started providing preceptorship mentoring to NorQuest students while working as a full-time LPN at Grand Manor. In the course of 3 ½ years, Czarina had the privilege to preceptor 3 practical nursing students. Her experience with them and having witnessed their compassion and care (firsthand) for their patients motivated her to pursue teaching.
Czarina is honoured to be able to teach Excel Academy’s Health Care Aide students; influencing future caregivers and watching them grow in their personal/professional life. Now, she enjoys teaching students the empathy of providing care to patients, as she remind them of the following quote: “They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel” (Maya Angelou).
