ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
This two day course is only available for Excel Society employees. ASIST is a world-wide suicide intervention training program developed by LivingWorks and delivered through the Center for Suicide Prevention in Calgary, Alberta.
ASIST consists of understanding the prevalence of suicide in Alberta and how to intervene if someone is demonstrating suicidal behaviors or is in the act of suiciding. Participants become familiar with the Pathways for Assisting Life suicide intervention model and spend much of the course practicing the skills required to identify and aid someone in crisis. This course is taught by certified ASIST trainers.
