Violence Prevention & Psychological Safety

Note:  This course is currently under evaluation.  Please contact the Academy for further information.

Every year in Alberta, more than 10 000 adults, children, and seniors are accommodated in shelters.  Twice as many are turned away as there are not enough shelter beds available.  These numbers don’t include crisis calls, outreach services, or those who never ask for safety and support.  Preventive education seeks to reduce abuse, isolation and vulnerability by creating time and space to talk about a difficult subject.

Many  staff are impacted by relationship violence; either directly or someone they know.  The course teaches how to recognize, respond, and where to refer for help, including HR resources, Excel policies, and community resources.

Highlights:

  • Identify risk and protective factors for psychological safety
  • Examine policy and practice that helps us feel physically and psychologically safe
  • Learn strategies for self-regulation
  • How to recognize and respond to incidents of personal violence

Cost: $115.00
