Presented by Laurie Young from Alberta Health Services
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence based practice which may benefit you in your professional and personal roles. It is a client centered approach designed to help clients explore and work through their ambivalence to change. Using the Stages of Change Model as a conceptual base, each stage offers characteristics and useful techniques to assist clients in completing tasks in order to move towards change. It is particularly useful in helping those who work with resistant individuals; as this is when Motivational Interviewing comes alive.
In this one day training you will be introduced to the stages of change and the spirit and principles of motivational interviewing. As adults we learn best through experiential learning, therefore there will be lots of opportunity to role play and experience firsthand what you are learning in the training.
