Motivational Interviewing – What have you heard and what do you know about it?
7 March, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
Facilitated by Laurie Young, AHS Addiction, Prevention, and Mental Health Promotion
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client centered approach designed to help clients explore and work through their ambivalence to change. Using the Stages of Change Model as a conceptual base, each stage offers useful strategies to assist clients in completing tasks in order to move towards recovery. It is particularly useful in helping those who work with resistant individuals. In this course you will have an opportunity to discuss how MI can be incorporated into existing approaches, how client ambivalence can be used to initiate change and learn a skill-based method to respond resistance.
